A Belarusian opera singer, Honored Artist of Belarus

Soviet, Belarusian opera singer (bassist), Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus (1999). Outstanding artistic talent, huge actor spirits and vocal skills make his appearance on the stage as an event. Demanding to himself and partners, painstaking work on every word, phrase, intonation is distinctive qualities of the singer-actor.

Oleg Melnikov was born in 1961 in Minsk, a Belarusian. In 1978 he graduated from the special school at the Belarusian State Conservatoire, bayan. In 1985 - Glinka Music School, vocal in class of Honored Artist A.Murzich. In 1986 he entered Odessa Conservatory to Professor E. Ivanov, vocal.

In 1986 he was invited as the leading soloist of Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater. During the period of study and work in the theater he has won 10 international competitions. Including the first-ever F. Chaliapin contest in Kazan.

In 1991, German company "DelfinZeeraizen" O.Melnikov was invited to a world tour with solo concerts. On December 1, 1993 on the invitation of the Belarusian opera Directorate he returned to his Homeland. As a leading actor of the scene, during the work in the theater he has created unforgettable and vivid images in virtually all bass parts of the world opera repertoire.

In 1988 he was awarded by I. Arkhipova with an invitation to the International Opera Festivals "Irina Arkhipova presents...", in which he took continued involvement. In 1997 he awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus. In 2001, he invited as a member of the jury of Glinka International Contest, which he has been to this day. Since 2003, he has been a permanent member of the Presidium of the International Union of Musicians and the Belarusian Union of Musicians. In 2007, F. Chaliapin International Society elected his as Chairman of F. Chaliapin Belarusian Society.

In 2010 he founded and held jointly with the Belarusian Union of Musicians 3 Republican and 1 Inter-regional competition for children and youth from 7 to 20 years in academic vocal. He is its chairman.

In 2011 he graduated from Belarusian Academy of Music with a degree in stage manager of a musical theater. Performances:

  • Mozart and Salieri (SABT RB, 2005).
  • Eugeni Onegin (Youth Molodechno Theatre, 2010).
  • The Queen of Spades (Serbian National Opera, Novi Sad, 2011).

Outstanding teaching abilities of Oleg Melnikov live in his students, who are working on different scenes, both at home and abroad. Oleg Melnikov, being a senior lecturer of the Academy of Arts, is invited to many international competitions of vocalists, where holds master classes in singing, for which was repeatedly marked with gratitudes and certificates of various countries.

In 2003, the President of the Republic of Belarus acknowledged him as "the Man of the Year" in music. He got the highest awards of the Union countries. He was awarded with the Certificate of Merit of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus (2013). Awarded with Certificate of Merit and the Silver Order of Irina Arkhipova for outstanding performing skills, the best embodiment of the image of Tsar Boris in the opera by Modest Musorgsky's "Boris Godunov", as well as active awareness-raising activities in Russia.

Today Oleg Melnikov continues working in the theater as a soloist (the leading master of the stage) and consultant of the theater singing and acting skills.
